Established in 2000, Genome Canada is a not-for-profit organization that offers funding to large-scale genomics related research. They focus on the scientific as well as ethical, environmental and social aspects (see GE³LS) of genomic research. Their funding is mostly from the federal government, provincial governments, private sector and international investments. They also organize and support workshops and conferences. There are six Genome Centres across Canada: Genome British Columbia, Genome Alberta, Genome Prairie, Ontario Genomics Institute, Genome Québec and Genome Atlantic.
