The Edmonton Science Outreach Network (ESON) is looking to hire a full-time program director until June 2011 (with a possibility for extension) who has a university science and/or education degree. This position involves developing creative and interactive science activities for kindergarten to grade 12 students, making school visits, assisting with the ESON’s volunteer program, working closely with science teachers, assisting with promotional materials and events, and some administrative duties such as record keeping and evaluations. In addition, this role also involves travelling throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas, public speaking and presentations, and some evening and weekend work related duties. Experience with the Alberta education system and science curriculum, volunteer management in the not-for-profit sector, and familiarity with Mircosoft Office and database management are valuable skills to have. The ESON is also looking for someone with a passion and creative outlook towards science and excellent communication skills for a wide range of age groups but who can also work independently.
