Google Canada is funding the Anita Borg Memorial scholarship to encourage women in computing and technology fields. This scholarship is in honour of Dr. Anita Borg (1949-2003) who was a strong advocate of women in technology. Her legacy continues through The Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology and Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing Conference. To be eligible for this scholarship, candidates must be female and entering her senior year of undergraduate studies or enrolled in a graduate program at a Canadian university. The candidate’s academic program must be in computer science, computer or software engineering, or a similar field. Recipients will be awarded $5000 for their 2011-2012 academic year and will be invited to visit Google for a networking retreat. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, February 1, 2011.
