Job Fairs

Job fairs are excellent opportunities to meet a large number of employers in a short period of time.  Unlike career fairs, employers at job fairs have positions available immediately or within a reasonable amount of time (such as six months).  Even if you are not in need of employment, attending job fairs is a great way to network and practice interview skills.  When participating in events such as this, always bring an ample supply of business cards and resumes, dress professionally and have a positive attitude.  As well, research in advance employers you are most interested in meeting at the job fair.  This is often your first opportunity to connect with employers face-to-face and impress them.

The following is information for two job fairs:

  1. Summer Job Fair (hosted by the University of Alberta), February 3, 2011 from 10 am to 4 pm.  For more details, click here.
  2. Partners for Employment, February 2, 2011 from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm. Please note that this fair is not open to the general public. More details are available here. The Partners for Employment website also has a host of helpful information such as suggestions on making your visit to the job fair a success and a list of participating organizations.
