International Networking Week

This year International Networking Week will be held from February 6 to 12, 2012. Its goal is to showcase the importance of networking in building successful careers, small businesses, large corporations, governments, organizations and associations.  Networking events will be held in Canada, the United States, Barbados, Sweden, the United Kingdom and Germany. International Networking Week is an initiative of BNI.

Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada

The year 2011 marked the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC). Their motto: AUCC is “the voice of Canada’s universities”. That is, AUCC advocates for the interest of higher education and works closely with government officials, industry and university leaders.   They also offer a number of scholarships, internship opportunities and international programs.

Chemical BioPhysics Symposium

The Chemical BioPhysics Symposium is an interdisciplinary conference which aims to connect researchers from chemistry, biology, physics and mathematics. Now in its tenth year, this symposium will be held at the University of Toronto from April 13 to 15, 2012.  There will be opportunities to listen to noted speakers from across North America and a chance to give a platform or poster presentation.  Travel awards are available. Early registration with a reduced fee is by January 31, 2012.

New Grad Career Expo

The New Grad Career Expo brings together Canada’s top employers and connects them to recent graduates. Companies include BC Assessment, Calgary Laboratory Services, Canadian Security Intelligence Service, Defence Construction Canada, eHealth Ontario, Ledcor, Microsoft, Ontario Power Authority, TD Bank Financial Group and more. It will be held on January 25, 2012 from 10AM to 7PM at Metro Toronto Convention Centre (North Building). Admission is $5 and online registration is recommended.

Mathematics of Planet Earth

The year 2013 will showcase the significance of mathematics on our planet. Mathematics plays a role in weather patterns, ocean waves, rock formation, natural resources, computer software, wall street, medical equipment, transportation, food production, and much much more. Mathematics of Planet Earth (MPE) is a global initiative with activities (such as competitions, workshops, summer schools, collaborative research groups, special journal issues, etc.) being conducted around the world. MPE is being supported by international institutions, teaching associations, research centres, societies and scientific organizations. For a complete list, click here.
