The PERFORM Centre is a clinical research facility located at Concordia University in Montreal. Its objectives are to improve and promote healthy living through research, teaching and community outreach. Some of its research projects involve cardiovascular fitness, obesity and the effects of exercise on a cellular level. There are also educational opportunitites for undergraduate and graduate students.
The Bloorview Research Institute is part of the Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. Its research focuses on children’s disabilities such as brain injuries, autism, bullying of children with disabilities, cerebral palsy, communication technologies, spina bifida, etc. The institute works closely with children, families, nurses, educators, physicians and researchers. Opportunities are available to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
Established in 1982, the Centre for Community-Based Research is a non-profit organization which aims to strengthen communities through social research. They achieve this by evaluating, planning, training, facilitating, and developing programs with communities, government, social and health services, community groups and educational institutions. The Ontario Genomics Institute (OGI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving and advancing gene related research and technology in Canada and ultimately its impact on a global scale. OGI works with academic institutions as well as industry in an effort to bring Canadian genomics research to its foremost. They offer funding for research, education and commercialization. They also have outreach programs such as summer research fellowships, teaching awards, genomics equipment grants, and OGI student networks.
The 15th annual Canada Career Week Fair will be held from November 18 to 19 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Over 175 exhibitors will be on hand with employment and volunteer opportunities, career advice, educational programs, training options and industry information. Free resume reviews and interactive mini-workshops will also be available. Admission and parking is free.
