The Canadian Women in Aviation is an organization that supports women in all areas related to aviation. Examples include providing information on scholarships, organizing conferences, promoting careers, developing networks and providing information on employment opportunities. The chapters across Canada are: Calgary, Edmonton, London, Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, and Winnipeg. Canadian Women in Aviation is part of Women in Aviation International.
Alberta Women’s Science Network (AWSN) supports women of all ages with careers in (or wish to be in) science, engineering and information technology. AWSN is a community of women sharing ideas, supporting one another and promoting science and engineering across Alberta. There are opportunities for young women to be mentored, earn scholarships and attend conferences. Sponsors of AWSN include NSERC, Suncor and Canadian Pacific Railway.
IODE Canada is a national women’s charitable organization with the mandate to encourage education, community services and quality of life through their scholarships, awards and citizenship programs. Currently, there are six war memorial scholarships available from IODE Canada. Applicants must be Canadian citizens, completed her first degree at a Canadian university and be in at least the second year of her doctorate program. All areas of study are welcome. The deadline for application submissions is December 1, 2011.
